This project is expected to lead to the successful development of formulation of a few RNA nanovectors with suitable features for an effective in vitro delivery,
namely with respect to complexation efficiency, loading ability, stability and stimuli-sensitivity. Given the versatility of the novel surfactants, and the level of
expertise of the team, we are confident on the feasibility of such outcomes. At a fundamental level, we can undertake a global analysis of all key physicochemical
parameters (molecular and physiological) leading to successful nanovectors and the possibility for even further enhancements.
Besides seeking scientific outputs (papers, theses and communications), this project has potential to lead to effective RNA therapeutic nanovectors, at the in
vitro and proof-of-concept level. A patent registration is expected and we may also seek the interest from companies in the medical area. Concomitantly, this
project involves the training of highly qualified human capital in cutting edge areas (organic synthesis, colloid chemistry, nanomedicine), which is important to
foster the national scientific community and the industrial sectors. |
