Maria Dulce de Almeida Pinto Soares holds a PhD in Literary, Cultural and Interartistic Studies, specializing in Literature and Culture – Comparative Studies – from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, with a thesis entitled Entre vozes e espelhos: um olhar sobre a Literatura de Viagens contemporânea portuguesa (2018), providing a significant overview of the current state of Portuguese Travel Literature. She did her Masters’degree in Comparative Literature and Culture at the same faculty with the dissertation Gonçalo Cadilhe e a Outra face do Mundo: viagens sobrepostas (2009). Teacher and researcher, she is a full member of the Institute for Comparative Culture Margarida Losa, belongs to Inter/Transculturalities group, having as main areas of interest Comparative Literature, Travel Literature, Interartistic Studies and Cinema. She is the author of critical studies in these areas, focusing her research on contemporary Portuguese Travel Literature, contemporary Literature from a comparative aproach, contemplating a varied mosaic of Portuguese and foreign authors. She has participated as a guest lecturer and as a speaker at colloquiums and as a book reviewer, as well as organizing activities within the group's strategic project, in an action-research perspective.
