The Doctoral Program in Digital Media is a joint program offered by the University of Porto and the New University of Lisbon. It is a multidisciplinary program organized in four areas of specialization:
At the University of Porto, the programme works in a multidisciplinary partnership between five of the faculties: the Faculties of Humanities, Fine Arts, Economics, Sciences and Engineering, the latter being the administrative headquarters of the course.
This doctoral program aims to provide advanced training in the area of Digital Media, with a focus on the leaders of the Digital Transformation.
The emergence of new applications in the area of digital media such as video games, interactive content on the web, interactive TV, video on demand, the emergence of educational software with a high impact on the younger people.
More recently, the dissemination of informative, marketing and leisure content on mobile devices and social networks, and the paradigm of Industry 4.0, demonstrate the importance of studying and researching this type of topics and studying its relationship with technology, the different areas of science and society in general.
It is also clear the need for universities to train professionals in this area, with the skills corresponding to the different levels of training, including the third cycle. The final objective of this program will be to train researchers, university professors, and leaders in innovation processes in the fundamental and applied areas of Digital Media.
The typical duration of the program is 4 years full-time (240 ECTS), corresponding to 1 year for the curricular component (Doctoral Course) and the 3 years after the research component.

Applications and registrations will be done at UP or UNL according to the student preferences.
Classes will be taught in Portuguese and English so all candidates must dominate the English language.
