Nelson Gomes received his PhD (Biomedical Sciences) by the University of Porto in 2014 and moved to Kasetsart University (Thailand) with a post-doctoral grant to continue his work on the discovery of bioactives from marine fungi. In 2016 he has initiated a new research line as a post-doctoral researcher at REQUIMTE/LAQV, his current research interests being focused on the therapeutic value of plants from Guinea-Bissauan and Thai flora. In 2017 he was appointed as Invited Assistant Professor at the private institute Cooperativa de Ensino Superior Politécnico e Universitário. He authors 37 peer-reviewed papers and 2 book chapters and has been frequently requested to act as a peer-reviewer for Marine Drugs, Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Phytomedicine, Food Research International, Cancer, amongst others.
