Programa em Química Medicinal: Da Química Orgânica aos Fármacos

What is a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)?

BIP are short and intensive training programmes, including online cooperation by combining physical mobility with a virtual part, and promoting and using innovative ways of learning and teaching, research-based and challenge-based learning. The virtual part will allow the participation in teaching/training of experts from all partners. The physical short-term mobility will allow the face-to-face cooperation of teachers and participants.

About the BIP "MedChem Program: From Organic Chemistry to Pharmaceutical Drugs":
The international course "MedChem Program: From Organic Chemistry to Pharmaceutical Drugs” is a training within the scope of Blended Intensive Program (BIP) of the ERASMUS+ program, offered by the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), Portugal, in partnership with:
- CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research;
- Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and Institute of Biomedicine (IBUB), University of Barcelona, Spain;
- Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic;
- Department of Pharmacy, University "G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara, Italy;
- National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece;
- Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy, Turkey.

It offers the possibility of training to students of programs from the various cycles of the participating Universities and Centers and from other Portuguese or foreign Universities, within the scope of their training in Medicinal Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

The face-to-face component: “From Organic Chemistry to Pharmaceuticals”, organized by the Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory (LQOF) of FFUP and the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) aims to make the connection between Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Emphasizing the relationship between chemical structure and biological activities, participants will learn and/or remember Organic Chemistry in a simple way as a basic science to acquire essential knowledge about Medicinal Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
The course in face-to-face format, together with the e-learning component, proposes to address cross-cutting topics, with importance for various scientific areas and of interest to various target audiences, namely students in the areas of Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Date and place:
5 days presential (15-19 July) at FFUP/ICBAS Complex.
5 hours of remote contact (22-26 July, e-learning),

Credits:
3 ECTS

Course target Audience:
The course is aimed at students (Integrated Masters; 1st, 2nd and 3rd Cycles) of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Veterinary, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacology and Biotechnology and other candidates with an interest in the area.

The number of participants is limited to 30. At least 15 registrations are for international students with a short-term mobility grant under the ERASMUS+ program and at least 5 places are for students from the University of Porto. Fluency in English language is required.
