Research Interest

- Cannabinoids, as biomarkers and therapeutic drugs, in reproduction/infertility and cancer.

- New inflammatory and oxidative stress markers as predictors of human oocyte quality.

- Acquired resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibitors and new targets/drugs to improve ER+ breast cancer therapy.


- Understanding the immunological mechanisms underlying Toxoplasma gondii infection during pregnancy and new therapies and vaccines to prevent parasite infection and pathology.

- Evaluate the impact of interventions to improve adherence and prevent / mitigate fragility and develop tools to evaluate the implementation of technological solutions in the elderly.

- Biology of anemia associated to erythrocyte membrane protein deficiencies.

- Chronic renal disease - identification of early biomarkers of renal damage; of progression to end stage renal disease; identification of predictive markers of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in patients on dialysis treatment; improvement on the biocompatibility of hemodialysis membranes.
