The MICF offers comprehensive training in chemistry, biology and medicine. At the end of the 3rd year (1st cycle), students are awarded a degree in Basic Studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences. After the 5th year, which includes a 6-month curricular internship in a community/hospital pharmacy, they receive a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, enabling them to practise the profession of pharmacist in Portugal or in any country in the European Union.

The MICF has a new study plan since 2023/24, which has been published in the Diário da República - Despacho n.º 7536/2023. This plan provides a better response to the current demands of the pharmaceutical profession.
