Current position: Researcher, PhD (FEUP). Integrated member of the R&D unit CONSTRUCT – Institute of R&D in Structures and Construction.
Education: PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Aveiro (2016); MSc in Civil Engineering from IUST University (2009).
Main research interests/skills: Machine learning techniques (supervised and unsupervised); Intelligent transport infrastructure; condition monitoring systems (wayside and on-board) and digital twins; damage identification; weigh-in-motion (WIM) and bridge weigh-in-motion (BWIM); railway infrastructures; seismic assessment of bridges and buildings;
Years of relevant experience: 13 years in research and 7 years in structural design and construction companies (bridges and buildings).
Main activities: International responsible for the NRPCES project under the Eureka Clusters Sustainability Call 2022; member of the team of 10 research projects in the area of railways (national and international); author of more than 35 scientific publications (h-index Scopus 15); regular reviewer for 44 journals; supervisor/co-supervisor of 6 MSc theses (6 concluded), 3 PhD theses (0 concluded), and mentor of 10 MSc theses (10 concluded).
Other relevant information: Other relevant information: Internship at the University of Bundeswehr in Munich, Germany; visiting researcher at the University of Wollongong, Australia; winner of a position in FCT’s Individual Scientific Employment Stimulus call – ranked 5th (out of 72) in the 4th edition (2021) for Junior Researcher (grant awarded); recipient of 8 awards related to research in the field of railways; invited speaker at several national and international scientific events.
