The Geotechnics Division is responsible for the education and scientific investigation in Geomechanics and Geotechnics areas in the Department of Civil Engineering. The study subjects are related to the main domains of transportation (roads and railways), environment and structures, including identification and characterization of rock mass and soils, foundations, support structures, fills, dams, underground structures, slope stability and others that have been increasing its relevance, as structure behaviour under seismic conditions, explosion vibrations control, underground gas storage, ground improvement and reinforcement, ground migration and dispersion of pollutants and its water system contamination. The Geotechnics Division is also responsible for Geotechnics Laboratory giving an important contribution in education and services, and its professors are often request to teach lessons and lectures about rehabilitation, roads and railways structures, environment, etc. |
