Objectives

Training in the field of engineering for the needs of a building in its phase of use, the importance of which can be summed up in three aspects:
1 - It is an area of knowledge where Civil Engineering can and should have a proviligiado role.
2 - The amateurism with which buildings are managed has as a consequence a decrease in their Useful Life and a clear increase in the burden on services
3 - Responding to the professional market that has observed an exponential growth in the involvement of Civil Engineers in the management of commercial spaces, service and housing condominiums, hotels, industrial parks, public buildings (schools,  hospitals, courts, etc.)

Learning outcomes and competences

In the field of Building Maintenance, being able to:

 Set up a building management structure serving the constructive characteristics of a building, the nature of use and the degree of requirement to which the building is subject;

 Draw up a maintenance plan based on specific policies;

Identify information technology needs and maintenance algorithms in order to select software.

In the field of the Economy of Use, being able to:

- Draw up a budget for a building in service;

─ Establish strategies and fundraising to ensure the economic sustainability of the building;

─ Optimize consumption to the needs of the organization (FM).

In the field of Sustainable Use, being able to:

─ Identify and quantify construction impacts;

─ Apply impact-in-service minimization solutions;

─ Promoting sustainability among user habits;

─ Evaluate the reaction of users to the built-up solution (POE)

Teaching methods and learning activities

The general methodology will be based on active learning motivating the trainees to build knowledge based on the development of the idea until the solution is obtained. This process of active knowledge lacks concepts that are the object of theoretical exposure.

Group learning techniques are experimental around cases of study addressed competitively. This process stimulates self-criticism and caution in "certainties" that result from an individual learning process.

The review of the bibliography will be a proposed method to address the theme related to the existence of prolíferous and unstructured information as is often available in digital dissemination media.

The evaluation provides for two different moments; one in a non-face-to-face group around a practical theme and the second individual moment, face-to-face around theoretical issues.
