- To know and contact with projects developed or ongoing in the area of Mining Engineering;
- To develop project design and management skills in solving concrete problems;
- To develop research initiation skills;
- Experimentation and discovery of knowledge;
- Improvement of personal skills and attitudes towards new problems and ethical analysis in solving them
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of this CU, students should:
- Have developed and carried out autonomous work in the area of Mining Engineering integrated into a company, research unit or academic environment.
- They should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations, integrating the principles of sustainability into engineering practices.
- They should be able to identify the contribution of their work to the environmental, social and economic aspects of the proposed solutions, with a view to a more sustainable and inclusive future through projects and initiatives aligned with the SDGs.

Mandatory literature
To be indicated, according to the project/theme selected.; De acordo com o projeto/trabalho selecionado será indicada a bibliografia adequada.
Comments from the literature
To be indicated, according to the project/theme selected.
Teaching methods and learning activities
Individual or group project work (2 to 3 elements).
Each project is supervised by a UC lecturer.
Each group presents progress reports and a final report (either in technical report or journal article format, depending on the environment in which the work is carried out).
At the end there will be an oral presentation in which all members of the group participate.
Assessment Type: Distributed assessment without a final exam
Frequency conditions: Achieving frequency presumes attendance within regulatory standards.
Evaluation Formula:
The final grade is the grade assigned to the individual work within each group, focusing on:
Final Report (R) Oral presentation and discussion (D) Attendance and participation (C) Final grade = 0.65*R + 0.25*D + 0.1*C
Evaluation Type
Distributed evaluation without final exam
