To develop and apply scientific research methodologies by carrying out research work.
Learning outcomes and competences
Students who obtain positive rating should be able to:
-Develop skills in presenting the results of an experimental scientific study as a writing report and orally;
-Acquire knowledge on Bioengineering;
-Develop skills to work individually and in group.

Students are assigned R&D work on subjects related to Biological Engineering.
The assignments are experimental, theoretical or computational A topic will be assigned to each student, unless specific situations.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Presentation of the working proposals, followed by the selection of the students’ topics of choice. Each work is monitored by a supervisor (and, if necessary, a co-supervisor). Students should submit a final report and make a presentation and defence before the curricular unit’s coordinator.

Eligibility for exams
Attendance is obtained through the completion of the work throughout the semester and the oral presentation of the project results and delivery of the final report.Calculation formula of final grade
Attendance frequency is obtained through the development of a work throughout the semester and the submission of a final report. Attendance frequency is assessed by the supervisor. Formula Evaluation: Final mark takes into consideration 3 parameters:
(1) Work Monitoring: Quality, Commitment, Autonomy (35%);
(2) Report: Organisation, Scientific Content (35%);
(3) Presentation/ Oral discussion: Clarity, Relevance, Defence arguments (30%).
