Theoretical-practical classes for lecturing and discussion of topics related with preliminary design of bioengineering processes. Concerning the project, there will be sessions with each group and the supervisor to monitor the work progress and to discuss future strategies. The progress and quality of the project is the responsibility of the students themselves. It is the supervisor’s responsibility to monitor the project, thus guaranteeing that the project report will be submitted. The projet presentation will be carried out approximately one week after the submission of the report.

Development of an industrial process in the field of Biotechnology. The progress and quality of the project is the responsibility of the students. The supervisor’s responsibility is to monitor the project, thus guaranteeing that the project report will be submitted by the end of the first week of January 2012 The project supervisor may request partial reports, should the need arise. The evaluation of the course unit consists of three components:
Component 1 – Startup info (CF1, 5%);
Component 2 – Midterm assessment report (CF2, 10%);
Component 3 – Project meetings and project report (CF3, 55%);
Component 4 – Project presentation and discussion of project and project report (CF4, 30%).
CF=0.05*CF1+0.10CF2*0.55*CF3+0.30*CF4
NOTE 1: The rating assignment in the top 10% assumes that work content is excellent and the report is very well presented and without spelling errors. The presentation of the work, including discussion, will have a total duration of 60 minutes (30 minutes for the presentation and 30 minutes of discussion).
NOTE 2: The group classification CF may be adjusted for each element of the group up to a maximum of ± 3 values, according to the performance of the elements of the group in all tasks related to the course unit.
