Objectives

To understand the main concepts and formulations used in the Dynamic Analysis and Identification of Structures and in the Control of Vibrations.

Learning outcomes and competences

Understanding of analytical formulations and capacity for development and application of software.

Models of dynamic behaviour of linear systems; Classic formulation of dynamic analysis of 1-GL and N-GL systems to deterministic and random excitations; Analysis formulation of state space; Continuous models, discrete models and stochastic models; Dynamic analysis of non-linear systems under random excitations; Stochastic equivalent linearization; Stochastic methods of modal , parametric and non-parametric identification; Methods based on spectral estimates, correlation and temporal series; Finite element model updating from identified modal parameters; Passive, active and semi-active control of structural vibrations.

DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:


The systematized presentation of the main analytical formulations, illustrated with small examples of application enables a correct understanding of the methods and their form of application.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The teaching involves sessions with theoretical presentations and discussions. The student grading will be based on a report assignment and a written exam if necessary.

DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

The report assignment and the discussion of the UC contents allows for an efficient learning experience at this education level.
