Objectives

To understand the basis of the behaviour of masonry material and the support codes and standards, to be able to analyse masonry constructions under thermal and mechanical points of view using different tools

Learning outcomes and competences

To perform the masonry rules and to be able to study masonry behaviour.

Historical/construction context; Concepts and terminology; Analysis of the main applicable demands; Materials; Elements (main types); Mortars; Complementary materials; Properties of masonry; Conception of resistant and compartmentalization masonry; Modelling techniques of thermal and mechanical behaviour; Technologies and construction arrangement; Pathologies and rehabilitation.


DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:

The  syllabus assure the absorption of the objectives in parallel with a deep contact with the matters in analysis

Teaching methods and learning activities

The teaching involves sessions with theoretical presentations and discussions. The student grading will be based on a report assignment and a written exam if necessary.
