This course aims to acquaint students with physical aspects of interfaces and interaction in maritime and coastal zones, through maritime hydrodynamics and coastal hydromorphology as well as an introduction to conception, design, modeling and observation of maritime and port structures.
Advanced engineering fundamental knowledge, engineering reasoning and problem solving, experimentation and knowledge discovery, system thinking, conceiving, designing, implementing of coastal engineering systems.
Hydrodynamics; Coastal and estuarine hydromorphodynamics; Biophysical environments: beaches, dunes, cliffs, estuaries and lagoons; Port structures and interventions; Base data and databases; Applications of physical and numerical modeling; Case studies.
