Introduction to Facility Management in construction
To develop technical aptitudes towards buildings in service.
Focus in a new concept in the domain of the management that is the Building Management.
Building behavior; System operation: mobile and fixed systems; Behavioural theories of buildings: information source elements; Performance assessment: methodologies of building inspection; Buildings management: technical, economical and functional management; Service information: manuals of operation and maintenance; Life Cycle Cost (LCC); Assessment and prediction methods: ALANI, MEDIC, SIMULA; Maintenance integrated systems; Maintenance socio-economic context: Portuguese legal context.
DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:
The syllabus give to the future engineers, either by its involvement in different phases of the project, either for its decisive role in the construction phase, skills to play an important role in the service phase of a building
Pedagogically uses the educational method based on the learning necessity to win difficulties. Each pupil faces in the beginning of the discipline a practical case in the domain of the building pathology, for which he does not have resolution aptitudes. The chance is given to develop these aptitudes in uncurling of the discipline with theoretical lessons, thematic lectures, debates and technical and commercial presentations.
Distributed evaluation with final exam
DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Establish process and algorithms of concept and constructive analysis to identify the most efficient from the desired point of view. Rank the results of the application of assessment methodologies and strategies to choose solutions. Understand and propose new solutions to improve the quality construction. To evaluate the methodologies used and predict directions of evolution that they may follow.
