Teaching language

Suitable for English-speaking students

Objectives

Give the students a deep knowledge about 3D Solid Modelling, namely in its use in the development of 3D Reconstruction systems.

Learning outcomes and competences

 At the end of the course, students should be able to:

-recognize the proper models of acquisition of shapes for a given application;

-recognize the advantages and disavantages of various technologies of shape acquisition and modelling;

-use some of the earlier models in the context of the development of new applications.

Working method

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

Knowledge in Computer Graphics and Interaction.

Program

- Assisted Fragmentation and Reconstruction (2D, 2.5D and 3D): discussion, differences and similarities.

- Objects reconstruction in different contexts, with special emphasis in the archaeological objects.

- Different methologies of assisted reconstruction:
    based on the analysis and direct comparison of surface lines of fracture;
    oriented for the retrieval of 3D objects with known basic characteristics;
    based in surfaces association.

-Development of test and evaluation prototypes.
