After approval in this course unit, the students should be able to perform a sound and thorough needs screening process, generate appropriate solution concepts, plan and create a development strategy, and integrate plans and strategies into a unified business vision.
After approval in this course unit, the students should be able to: 1. Perform a sound and thorough needs screening process, by: developing need statements, analyzing disease state, developing a landscape of available treatment options, analyzing the multiple stakeholders touched by a need, performing market analysis, and filtering needs. 2. Generate appropriate solution concepts, by: developing creative solutions to a defined need, and choosing solution concepts to pursue. 3. Plan and create a development strategy, by: developing the initial steps required to obtain a patent, creating an intellectual property strategy, creating a regulatory strategy. 4. Integrate plans and strategies into a unified business vision, by: developing a corporate strategy, creating an operating plan, and performing an economic and financial analysis, integrated in the development of a business plan.

A weekly session of three hours will be dedicated to the presentation and discussion of concepts and lectures with experts in the areas addressed. A one-hour session will be dedicated to coaching sessions focused on the technology/problem combinations that each team will work with throughout the semester.
