Objectives

In this training in transversal skills, students are expected to acquire skills in the use of Spreadsheets, in particular MS Excel, for solving management problems and analyzing large volumes of data, namely using data series available in Pordata, INE and others.

Learning outcomes and competences

It is intended that students achieve the following goals:
● Use of Spreadsheets.
● Understanding the essential concepts of data analysis and management.
● Solving problems involving a large volume of data, namely using data series available at Pordata, INE and others.

Teaching methods and learning activities

This training was developed to work in the distance learning modality, so it will essentially work in asynchronous self-learning mode with consultation of videos and documents on different topics, as well as access to bibliographical references and various links, exercises and online quizzes. The interaction between professors/students will be ensured daily through forums.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Assessment Components

Designation Weight (%)
Teste 100,00

Eligibility for exams

rating greater than 85% on the transition test

Calculation formula of final grade

  • Assessment methods will be based on two components:

    • a distributed component, in the form of answers to questions (quizzes) in moodle; students will be admitted to phases “n+1”, if they have obtained a grade higher than 85% in the transition test “n -> n+1”.

    • One component of the final exam, in person, lasting 1 hour in a computer room at FEUP.

  • Formula for calculating final grade = 100% exam

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Obtaining approval for this CT in a special season exam requires approval in the following two components:

- Distributed component (if not performed during the semester), which may be replaced by the completion of the "Final Quiz" in Moodle (with the respective approval) in the 15 days prior to the exam date;

- Final exam component, to be carried out through a in class test, lasting 1:30h in a computer room at FEUP. Only those who have previously passed the distributed component of the CT have access to the final exam.
