Teaching language
Suitable for English-speaking students
Obs.: The English language will be adopted whenever foreign language students are enrolled.
Objectives
Develop and apply work methodologies in industrial, hospital or research and development institutions.
It is intended that the student develops transversal skills that begin with the search for a short-term internship, in an industrial, hospital or R&D institution, until the development of the project in that environment.
Learning outcomes and competences
Acquire experience of working in a multidisciplinary team (CDIO 3.1) in carrying out a common project and learn to organize, distribute and carry out tasks in a coordinated way;
Experience a formal development process and use computer-assisted work organization tools (CDIO 4.6.1);
Carry out design and development activities in engineering within the scope of topics covered in the training program according to deadlines and meeting the requirements, specifications and test plan established (CDIO 4.4.2);
Write simple requirements, specifications and test plan documents (CDIO 4.5.5);
Understand how to write a report and present it orally or as a poster (CDIO 3.2.6).

Program
Development of a project in an industrial, hospital or research and development institution.
Basic training will be obtained through the implementation of tasks associated with carrying out experimental work, collecting and processing data, researching information for scientific/technological innovation, according to the area of activity of the internship site.
Mandatory literature
Karl T. Ulrich;
Product design and development. ISBN: 978-007-108695-0
David Beer;
A guide to writing as an engineer. ISBN: 978-0-470-41701-0
Teaching methods and learning activities
The main teaching methodology to be implemented is teamwork in project-based learning. The student will carry out an internship properly framed in a project team in a company, institution or external entity. Each project is supervised by a responsible who represents the institution where the work is performed, as well as by a professor. The student will write a report at the end and make an oral presentation to colleagues and professors.

Eligibility for exams
The student must actively participate in the development of the project throughout the semester, showing the collaboration to achieve the objectives proposed in the report and in the final presentation.
Calculation formula of final grade
The final classification is obtained taking into account 3 parameters:
(1) Work: Quality, Commitment, Autonomy (weight: 50%);
(2) Report: Organization, Scientific content (weight: 30%);
(3) Oral Presentation/Discussion: Clarity, Relevance, Defensiveness (weight: 20%).
