The aim of this course is the performance of two projects: a 60 kV overhead transmission line and a 60/15 kV or 60/30 kV distribution substation. Students should be capable of developing a licensing project to these types of electrical installations.
1. Acquisition and demonstration of advanced knowledge on the constitution, functioning and implementation of two projects electric (Line and Substation AT) (CDIO Syllabus 1.3, 2.1, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5,3.1);
2. Demonstration of capacity for treatment, validation and interpretation of results in practical work (CDIO Syllabus 1.3, 2.1, 2.3, 3.2);
3. capacity development of autonomous work and literature (CDIO Syllabus 2.4);
4. demonstration of ability to integrate and carry out work in a team and the planning and development of joint work (CDIO Syllabus 2.4 and 2.5);
5. development and demonstration of capabilities for the production of written reports;
6. Demonstration of understanding of the external contexts, business and commercial moves that currently the electricity sector (CDIO Syllabus 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4);
7. demonstration of skills related to setting objectives to the design and management of projects (CDIO Syllabus 4.3, 4.4).
This course is divided into two parts:
1. Design of a high voltage overhead transmission line:
Objective: to design a 60 kV overhead transmission line;
Methodology: Analysis of the legal framework; use of topographic maps; route; electrical calculation and conductors; mechanical calculation; project brief
2. Design of a distribution substation:
Objective: to change the voltage level of an industrial facility
Methodology: Analysis of the substation; element constitution; equipments; ground networks; interlocking
At the beginning of each project, it will be given some theoretical classes to present essential themes, regarding installation, regulations and calculation.
The projects have to be performed by groups of three students during theoretical-practical classes.
