Understand and acquire fundamental knowledge about: (i) the earth system as a dynamic system and the components; (ii) the global dynamic of the planet, the intern and extern geodynamic processes and respective interaction; (iii) the geologic cycle and the genesis of magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.
Understand the relation between geodynamic processes with the genesis of the rocks and the global dynamic of the Earth.
Identification of some rocks and minerals.
Understand the geologic time scale and the stratigraphic principles.
Analyses and comprehension of geological maps.
1. Geology as a science. The interaction between the several areas of Geology and the Geology with other Sciences. The importance of geological knowledgment.
2. The Earth planet. General considerations about the earth structure. The Earth systems. The internal earth structure.
3. Lithological cycle. Rocks and minerals.
4. Stratigraphy and geological time scale.
5. Dynamic of the earth. Continental drift. The theory of tectonic plates.
6. Internal geodynamic. Magmatic processes. Volcanism. Metamorphic processes.
7. External geodynamic. Sedimentary processes, mass movements, fluvial processes, coastal processes, glacial processes, aeolian processes, karst processes.
Analyses and comprehension of topographic maps and geological maps. Construction of geological sections.
Observation and identification of minerals and rocks hand specimen.
Stereographic projection.
Lecturing classes and pratical classes with exercices of analysis and interpretation of geological maps and sections and stereographic projection.
