Objectives

Analyze and discuss the structuring role of Communications and its impacts on organization and economic and social development of societies (companies, citizens, public administration)

-Understanding the technological trends of telecommunications (networks, terminals,services)

-To be acquainted with the relevant aspects of the sector in Portugal and in the world

-Mastering some basic technological concepts to facilitate multi-disciplinary dialogue in organizations, either internal collaborative processes or in the external relationship with partners, suppliers or customers of the value chain

-Learn to make use of ICT (as part of multimedia communication) to promote innovation, whether in business models, in production or decision processes ,in products and services,or customers user experience

-To be acquainted with the incorporation of electronic multimedia communication platforms in the construction and provision of services, using real case studies.

-Write monographys

Teaching methods and learning activities

 

-Theoretical and pratical classes, either oral and computer- based

-Presentation/discussion of study-cases with the students

-Type of evaluation: distributed evaluation (4 monographies) and final examination(individual oral discussion on a final groupwork)

Eligibility for exams

-Attendance is reached if at least 3(of4) monographies are writed and have positive evaluation, and 50% of presence in classroom.

-This attendance is equivalent to 60% of the final evaluation

Calculation formula of final grade

Final evaluation is obtained 60% attendance and 40% final  work and oral dissertation

Examinations or Special Assignments

It is possible to implement a special writen evaluation for appeal or to rise previous evaluation

Internship work/project

-Students has to write a final work, analysing and designing new services using multimedia platforms and technology and be able to get new value in the user experience

-This work wiii be presented and discussed as the final examination

Classification improvement

It is possible to get evaluation's rise, by means of a written examination or an oral discussion of earlier works and new thematics

Observations

It is possible to request the students to discuss their monographies at classroom, as well to do ted-talks on topics they choose
