To prepare students for the basic but essential legal problems they most probably will have to deal with either when starting a business or when assuming contracts and responsabilities in the life and business of any company. Based also in international legislation, directives and rules from EU and ICC, besides portuguese law.
In our days there is no society without organization and there is no organization without law. Company law will provide students of the essencial knowledge to choose solutions, to avoid errors and risk in negotiations and international contracts, to be aware of responsabilities, dealing with real cases and analysing both portuguese and international law

I- Individual company owner and different types of companies. II- Doing business. 1. Business laws. 2. Guarantees and protective measures to recover commercial debts. 3. Standards of liability for defective products. III- Payment rules in international business. IV – Special rules on labour contracts.
Each subject is presented and studed on the basis of singular cases , law and rules applied. 2. Students are invited to discuss the subject and to understand and interpret the the law. 3. Some subjects, such as distribution agreements, factoring or leasing contracts, can be prepared by students that are invited to expose the theme in class.

Students with special status (student union leaders and high-level competition athletes) can opt to be assessed as normal students, according to the rules previously described. Alternatively, they can take the final exam at the period especially designed for students with special status. In this case, the weight of the exam remains equal to 100%
Students may repeat the exam in the appeal period.
Students may also improve their classification in the following academic year by repeating the exam.
