The objectives of this course are to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge about the problematics of information systems in organizations and enable them to use this knowledge to contextualize the activities of information management in organizations.

It is also intended that students acquire a socio - technical approach on IT in organizations , that is, who face development activities , management and use of information systems as always requiring a balanced and integrated intervention in technical, organizational and terms social .
Being approved for UC , students will be able to :
1. Introduction to IS in organizations
Evolution of IS in organizations. The present and future role of IS.
2. Information, Systems and Information Systems.
Data, information and knowledge in the organzational context. The organization and SI as a socio-technical system. Systems thinking in the IS field.
3. Information, management and decision-making
Managers and decisions. Generic decision-making model. Information to support decisions. Management functions and IS.
4. Structures, processes and IS types
Structure and processes in the organizations and IS. Facets of IS classification in the organizations. Paradigm examples of IS in organizations.
5. IS and organizational change.
Interdependence between organization, environment and IS. Types of analysis in IS: functions and processes. Business process analysis. Impact and technology acceptance models.
6. IS and organizational strategy.
IS planning. Strategic IS.
The lectures focus on the students discussion of the topics included in the content of UC, motivated and dynamized by the teacher. For this, the students have the plan of UC readings. The discussion of issues is motivated by case studies, illustrative examples, examples of technologies, etc..
During the semester, students take 3 or 4 small group projects where they apply the knowledge acquired in concrete situations. Content created by groups that are managed by a content management system (CMS) making this practical part of learning. In each practical class is made the presentation and discussion of the results of group projects.
The UC is managed through Moodle.
Distributed evaluation with final exam. Evaluation components:
Examination: 50%
Group projects: 40%

Students must attain at least 40% in all components. Frequency of at least 75% of the practical classes. The frequency of previous years does not rate in the current year, ie, if the student has a practical note from a previous year that failed, this note does not account for the current year.
nf=0,5*exam+0,4*projects+0,1*participation
The working student will perform the defined practical work. Should seek to insert themselves into working groups in the first class and then carry out the work as planned in each group. Although not mandatory attendance at practical classes, they must nevertheless be present in classes where there are points of assessment. Must be present in four classes during the semester. In the first practice session will be disclosed dates of mandatory attendance.
It is only possible to improvement the mark of the exam. The practice mark is only possible to improve in the next issue of course.
A content management system will be used to manage the group works.
