Fundamental problems and methodologies of traffic engineering and control. Urban traffic flow. Transport modes and modal split models. Accident analysis and prevention.

Program

Bus transit, urban congestion and modal split Road safety. Accident analysis and "black spot" detection. Related statistical problems. Accidents, traffic volume and speed. Performance of corrective actions for accident redution. Matrices O/D and transportation problems. Graph theory and applications.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Lectures and practical exercises concerning the proposed themes.
