Objectives
Discipline of general characteristics in the area of Road Design, Earthworks, Drainage and Pavements
Program
- Cross section of a Road: characteristcs of roadway, bends and drainage structures.
- Traffic: basics about capacity.
Earthworks: earth volumes and earth distribution (Bruckner).
-Soils: Proctor and C.B.R. tests.
- Basics about pavements.
Teaching methods and learning activities
General exposures for theoretical classes. Resolution of practical problems for practical classes.

CF = (1.2 x CT + 0,6 x CP + 0,2 x CTP) /2
CF = final classification
CT = theoreetical part of final test

SPECIAL RULES FOR MOBILITY STUDENTS:
Proficiency in Portuguese and/or English;
Previous attendance of introductory graduate courses in the scientific field addressed in this module;
Evaluation by exam and/or coursework(s) defined in accordance with student profile.
Observations
For Erasmus students with difficulties in Portuguese understanding will be available, in English language, theoretical and practical tutorial lectures (1hour/week each) accordingly to professor timetable. Whenever possible, will be supplied English bibliography.
Evaluation will be made on English oral exam.
