Objectives

To teach the fundamentals of chemistry in order to homogeneize the knowledge between the students. At the end of these classes we hope that the students can resolve simple problems and adquire the knowlwge of basic concepts of chemistry.

Program

Matter states. Periodic table. Atoms, molecules and ions. Molecules and Ions, Chemical formulas, naming compounds, Familiar Inorganic compounds. Atomic mass and molar mass of elements and compounds. Experimental determination of empirical formulas.
Chemical reactions. Chemical reactions and chemical equations, amounts of reactants and products, limiting reagents, reaction yield, general properties of aqueous solutions, precipitation reactions, acid-base reactions, oxidation-reduction reactions, concentration of solutions.
