Objectives
Background
The course covers the basic issues in the main subareas of corporate finance.
Specic Aims
Develop fundamental insights into decisions of corporate finance as well as problem solving capacities in this field.

Basic accounting concepts.
Learning Outcomes
It is intended that at the end of the course students are capable of
1- analysing companies audit reports and doing an economic and financial diagnosis of the company
2- dealing with the main financial decisions in a company, both in operational and strategic areas

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical classes, which will be supported by transparencies and datashow projector, will be based on the presentation of the theoretical concepts. It will be presented cases related to this course unit. Theoretical classes will be complemented by practical classes, which will be based on the resolution and analysis of cases.

Eligibility for exams
According to the General Evaluation Rules of FEUP
Calculation formula of final grade
FM- 2 mini tests (50% each)
Comments:
1- minimum grade in each test- 6 values
2- Students can only attend to one resit exam at the end of the semester, to improve the grade of one of the tests
3- Students have to attend to a mandatory oral exam if they achieve a mark above 18 out of 20 (if they do not attend to this exam, they will earn 18 out of 20).
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Working students, student association leaders….have to attend to 2 mini-test along with the other students, or they can attend the final exam (100%) at the corresponding season.
Classification improvement
By a final Exam - 100%
(marks over 18 are subject to an oral examination)
