Objectives

- Introduction of the concepts of Process Units as building blocks of Chemical Processes and designed to perform appropriate Unit Operations. Examples of process units and chemical processes.
- Introduction to the concepts associated to the development of Chemical Processes: Synthesis and Analysis;
- Use of Mass and Energy Conservation principles to solve material and energy balances over chemical processes with and without chemical reactions. Perspective of these problems by general analysis of variables and equations.

Program

- Introduction: Fundamentals of Unit Operations, Process Units and Chemical Processes. Examples.
- Phases of development of Chemical Processes: Synthesis and Analysis.
- Material Balances: Aplication of the principle of mass conservation in processes with and without chemical reactions. General analysis of variables and equations. Design Variables. Material balances for systems of process units.
- Energy balances: Aplication of the principle of energy conservation in processes with and without chemical reactions. Thermophysics and Thermochemistry.
- Material and Energy balances: Simultaneous resolution of material and energy balances.
