Objectives

1.Acquisition technical knowledge in fundamental sciences (Statistics);
2.Consolidation of personal and professional aptitudes: identification and formularization of problems; modelling; estimate and qualitative analysis; analysis with uncertainty; initiative; creative and critical thought; experimentation and discovery of the knowledge at level of the formularization of hypotheses.

Program

Elements of probability. Data numerical description and expectation. Discrete probability distributions. Normal distribution. Sampling distributions. Confidence intervals. Hypothesis testing. Correlation and regression analysis of experimental data. Analysis of variance. Quality control. Hypothesis testing and analysis of variance.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Lectures with emphasis on student interactivity supported by the presentation and resolution of real problems. Theoretical-practical classes with emphasis on team work supervised by the lecturer and using Matlab and Excel.

Part 3: Practical part with consulting of one document executed in a computer.
