Objectives

Develop and extend the knowledge and skills got in the disciplines of Roads 1 and 2. Special focus in the motor-ways multi-lane sepecific charateristics and the drainage design.

Program

- Cross-roads design process and geometric standarts; stopping sight distance and intersection sight distance; vertical considerations.
- Roundabouts: basic geometric elements - inscribed circle diameter, entry width, circulatory roadway width, central island and splitter island; vertical considerations.
- Motorway interchanges: Design process any geometric standarts; recommended design speed and vertical considerations.
- Drainage facilities: general recommended pratices and proper positions and seletion of material types; methods of determining designe dischange;
- Channel calculation of: allowable headwater, maxim velocity and tailwater; culvert and pipes hydraulics: inlet or outlet control, head required for a proper flow, velocity and water surface.
