Objectives

The students should be able to:
Cover the fundamental aspects of the operation of interconnected power systems (CDIO 4.3, 4.4, 4.6).
Conceptualize and formulate the different problems associated to the efficient technical and economic management of a Power System (CDIO 1.3, 1.4, 2.3, 2.5, 4.3, 4.4, 4.6).
To know and apply optimization methods and computational tools to support the operation of transmission and distribution networks (CDIO 2.1, 2.3, 3.2, 3.3).

Program

Economic management of power systems. Unit commitment. Economic Dispatch. Hydrothermal coordination. Consideration of the transmission network. Reactive power dispatch. Optimal power flow. Dispatch of distribution networks. Generating and transmission system. Operation scenarios and interconnections. Security of supply. Ancillary services. Network reconfiguration.
