Objectives
To provide the students with the knowledge and skills required:
- To understand the fundamental and principles of quality control, quality assurance and quality management
- to model and analyze business processes
- to analyze and develop quality management systems according to ISO 9000 standard.
- to apply quality tools in manufacturing and product development.
Program
1. Fundamental quality management concepts and principles
Definitions of quality: product, services and processes. Cost of quality. Quality control, quality assurance and quality management. Total quality
2. Business processes analysis and modelling
Identification, analysis and representation of business processes. Modeling and analysis tools and techniques. Practical examples.
3. Models and standards for quality management
ISO 9000 family. Process approach. Analysis of the standard ISO9001. Auditing and certification of quality management systems. The excellence model of the European Foundation for Quality Management.
4. Quality methods and tools
Quality in manufacturing: Statistical process control
Quality in product development: Failure modes and effects analysis.

Eligibility for exams
Students have to attend to classes (according to the rules) and have to reach a minimum mark of 40% in the written component of the course, to be admitted to exams.
Students have to attend to all seminars (unless justified).
Calculation formula of final grade
- Individual work: 20%
- Teamwok: 20%
- Final examination: 60%

The same as ordinary students.
Classification improvement
Students can only improve the mark of their written exams.
Observations
Students have to reach a minimum mark of 40% in the written component of the course.
