Objectives

To train the students with computational fluid dynamics-CFD tools, for the design and simulation of several processing operations relevant to the chemical engineering processes.

Program

Project Based Learning study of one processing unit of a chemical engineering local plant using FLUENT as a CFD tool. The project will include fieldwork at the plant, process unit modelling and simulation.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Initial lectures on the principles of CFD, based on slide projection on video. The spefic project of the course, is implemented with a PBL- Project Based Learning - strategy, with student work mainly organized in groups, with calendadarized project milestones, and with individual research tasks assigned to students.
