Objectives

The main objective of LEQ II is the experimental study of some subjects previously learned in other disciplines (Transport Phenomena, Unit Operations, Separation Processes)

Program

There are available six laboratory experiments:

Fluid flow through porous media
1 - Constant-pressure filtration
2 - Particulate fluidization

Heat transfer
3 - Determination of natural convection heat transfer coefficients
4 - Determination of overall heat transfer coefficients in an
agitated vessel at unsteady-state conditions

Mass transfer
5 - Batch distillation
6 - Mass transfer in fixed beds

Teaching methods and learning activities

The experimental work is carried out at the laboratory by groups of two students. Each group should perform four laboratory experiments among those previously refered.
Results interpretation and reports writing should be done, mainly, as homework. Group reports must be prepared for the first three experimental works. For the last one, an oral presentation must be done.
