Objectives

This course aims to allow the students to keep the acquisition of an integrating vision of commonly used statistical concepts and techniques. These are introduced with examples, what makes the students learn through dealing with specific problems. In the end, the students are expected to become critical users of statistical analysis’ methods, with autonomy to apply them in decision preparation.

Eligibility for exams

The student cannot exceed the absence limit defined in the General Evaluation Rules of FEUP.
The average of the mini-tests’ classifications must be superior to 6 marks.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final classification = 0.15 * Classification of the first mini-test + 0.15 * Classification of the second mini-test + 0.7 * Classification of the exam

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

For the students dismissed from frequency, the final classification will be the classification of the exam. However, they can choose to do the mini-tests. In this case, they must inform the teacher and their final classification will be calculated as the following:

Final classification = 0.15 * Classification of the first mini-test + 0.15 * Classification of the second mini-test + 0.7 * Classification of the exam

Please note that all students that do the mini-tests submit themselves to the minimum grade criteria, this is, the average mark of the classifications obtained on the two mini-tests must be superior to 6 marks.

Classification improvement

For the students that want to improve their classification on the re-sit exam, the mini-tests’ classification is not considered. Thus, if the student had a positive result on the first exam and wants to improve his/her classification, the final classification will be that obtained on the exam.

Final Classification = max (classification after the 1st exam, classification of the re-sit exam)
