Objectives

To learn the foundations and properties of numerical algorithms relevant in Chemical Engineering: Apply different numerical approaches to the solution of mathematics and Chemical Engineering problems; Understand the advantages and disadvantages of the use of alternative numerical methods; Recognize the importance of error estimation and know how to use error criteria;
To apply and to use numerical methods in various platforms: paper, pencil and calculator; Excel worksheet; MATLAB
To consolidate and to expand coding and programming competences: Introduction to structured programming; Coding of serial and iterative methods and; Use of pre-existing subroutines.
