Durability; vulnerability of polymeric materials to degradation agents; the role of the structure and connection type; damage during installation; creep of geosynthetics; safety coefficients to be adopted. Functions and properties; property control tests; current state of European codes of practice; index, performance and application control tests. Empirical design rules. Analytical design procedures: conditions of application; identification of primary functions; factors affecting design and properties to be considered; design criteria; definition of fundamental property values; index tests and quality control tests.
