Abstract (EN):
The HOPE Project was developed with the aim to improve the quality of life of children diagnosed with cancer. A major issue was addressed: to reduce anxiety and to increase physical activity in hospitalized children so that there is greater mental and physical availability to receive cancer treatments. A first prototype of a video game with a co-created narrative was successfully validated. The transformation of the hospitalized children's fears into the superpowers of the game character increased the intrinsic motivation during treatments. The great impact of this first prototype led to the conceptualization of related technologies with the same approach, which could also respond to the difficulties of logistical, emotional, and informational management of other groups of interest.
