Resumo (PT):
Abstract (EN): Strategies for coping with normal wildfires are everywhere inadequate in the case of intense, fast-moving ones and much more in the face of extreme wildfire events (EWEs). After a detailed analysis of wildfires fatalities, the chapter proposes a new adaptive approach to cope with wildfires and possible actions to be undertaken before, during, and after a fire. The new approach is labeled BESAFE and synthesizes a holistic perspective in the actions to be undertaken by civilians and fire agencies in a collaborative way that can be easily adapted to the social and geographic context.
