Summary: Finnee - From spectra to formulas - aims to study the metabolomics profiles of some pulmonary diseases (asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease - COPD). To do so exhaled breath condensates (EBC) from healthy, asthmatic and COPD patients will be separated using liquid chromatography hyphenated to high-resolution mass spectrometry. The core of the project consists in the development of a Matlab toolbox allowing to process the resulting datasets. The aim is to extract essential minor features and provide support for the complete metabolomics analysis. Development of such a computerised platform is necessary to allow in-depth analysis and will enable EBC, a non-invasive sampling approach, to become a valuable clinical tool for screening for pulmonary diseases.
