Dr. Daniel G. Costa is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC), Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), University of Porto (Portugal). He completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering in 2005, Master in Electrical Engineering in 2006, and received his Ph.D. degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering in 2013 from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Natal, Brazil) in collaboration with the University of Porto. From 2007 to 2022, he served as an Assistant/Associate professor at the State University of Feira de Santana (Brazil).

Prof. Daniel has an extensive number of scientific publications in international journals and conferences, with a significant number of citations and a high h-index. He is currently the coordinator of the Laboratory of Emerging Smart Systems (LES2) at SYSTEC, a research laboratory dedicated to work in Embedded AI, Data Science, Sensor Networks and Internet of Things (IoT) on applications in Smart Cities, Autonomous Vehicles, Industry 4.0, and various Cyber-Physical Systems.

In 2021, 2022 and 2024, he was in the list of top 2% cited researchers.

In 2025, Prof. Daniel received the Scientific Recognition Diploma and the Pedagogical Recognition Diploma from FEUP.
