Paula Rocha graduated in Applied Mathematics at the University of Porto, Portugal, in1983, and obtained her Ph.D. in Systems and Control in 1990 from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands.

She worked as an Assistant Professor att TU Delft till 1993, and then moved to the Department of Mathematics of the University of Aveiro, Portugal, where she has worked till the end of 2008.  She was a Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, FEUP, from 2009 until her retirement, in May 2025. She is currently a Retired Professor  at FEUP.

Her main interests are the behavioral approach to systems and control, multi-dimensional (nD) systems, and control of biomedical systems.

She supervised several MSc and PhD theses as well as post-docs (follow the link "Orientação de teses> All theses" in this page's menu bar for a list of advisees at FEUP).
