Education:
Degree in Applied Physics - Optoelectronics and Lasers (Scientific-Technological), FCUP (2003).
Post-Graduation in Medical Physics, FCUP (2006).
Main research interests/skills:
- Dynamic, static and autonomous monitoring systems in structures, railway infrastructures and rolling stock.
- Data control, performance and treatment systems.
- Optical systems (Lasers, optical detectors, video cameras, fiber optics) for measuring various types of quantities (displacement, temperature, deformation, pressure / load).
- Instrumentation and time synchronism techniques in the acquisition of wired and wireless data between sensors, equipment and systems.
- Integrated IOT (Internet of Things) solutions, intelligent sensors and microcontrollers.
- Development of sensors / transducers and energy systems.
Main activities:
- Support for the design, preparation and carrying out of tests (laboratory and field) within the scope of the teaching of curricular units (undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees), and of national and international R&D projects, research activities related to the work of scholarship holders, Researchers, post-doctorate and service contracts (Ex .: FERROVIA 4.0, CAPACITY4RAIL, PEDDIR, IN2TRACK2 / 3, FiberBridge, MetaShield, iRail, SeismicPRECAST, WindFarmSHM, SafeEarth).
- Design, execution and installation of dynamic, static, and autonomous monitoring systems for implementation in structures (bridges, buildings, wind farms), in railway infrastructures (PI's, transition zones, railways) and in circulating railway material (wagons and locomotives) ). Structural assessment and analysis of train-infrastructure and track-structure interaction.
- Development and maintenance of programs / algorithms in various types of development software for monitoring, control, acquisition and data processing systems, in particular for National Instruments equipment.
- Support to several laboratories in the department, to the CONSTRUCT R&D unit (Institute and R&D in structures and construction) and interface institutes (IC - Instituto da Construção).
- Projection and development of equipment, sensors and systems (acquisition, energy, electronic, optical), in order to better adapt to the needs encountered.
- Organization, maintenance and calibration of measurement equipment, prototypes, sensors, transducers and systems.
- Co-author in magazine articles, conference and technical reports.
- Responsible for safety in tests performed in the railway area and coordination of work in the field.
