Currently: Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering (Civil Engineering Dep.), University of Porto (since 23/5/2005).

Academic degrees: Bsc in Applied Mathematics (Lusíada University (Porto) (1993). MsC in Applied Mathematics (Faculty of Science, University of Porto (1996). PhD in Enginnering Science (Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (2005).

Main research Interests: Dynamical systems and applications. Statistics. Nonlinear prediction and determinism of time series. Statistical data analysis. Time series analysis.  Box-Cox transformation.

Area of expertise: Mathematical Analisys (analysis in R^n) and linear algebra. Has had also classes in differential equations ( análise matemática 3).
As a researcher:
Member of the Project - Dynamical systems and applications (FCT Fundation for Science and Technology (POCTI/MAT/55954/2004). Integrated member of CEC (Centre of Research in Civil Engineering) 1998-2005. Integrated member of CMUP (Centre of Mathematics of the University of Porto) (2006-2012). Integrated member of LIAAD INESC TEC (Artificial Inteligence and Decision Support Laboratory (2012-2018).
Author e co-author of more the 20 books several of them about analysis in R^n, linear algebra and differential equations. Author e co-author of 19 papers in international journals and conference proceeddings.
Co-advisor with Alberto Pinto of a Phd student in mathematics in the University of Minho in 2011.
Presented a plenary session entitled "Universal fluctuations of the Wolf’s sunspot numbers" at the Palestinian Conference on Modern Trends in Mathematics and Physics, Birzeit University, Birzeit, Palestine (2008). 
Session organizer at the conference Dynamics & Applications in Honor of Mauricio Peixoto and David Rand, Braga, Portugal (2008).
Participation in more than 20 international conferences.
