Paulo Portugal received the Licentiate, MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto, in 1992, 1995 and 2005, respectively. Currently, he is Associate Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Porto and a researcher at INESC TEC.
He is author or co-author of more than 120 technical papers in the areas of industrial communication systems (wired, wireless), communication networks for embedded systems and dependability modeling and evaluation of safety-critical systems. He supervised or co-supervised 8 PhD and 51 Master thesis.
He has a teaching experience of more than 30 courses, covering subjects such as: industrial automation, industrial communications, discrete event systems modeling, safety-critical systems, instrumentation and electronics.
