Current position: Assistant researcher of the Civil Engineering Department of FEUP and integrated member of the research unit CONSTRUCT– Institute of R&D in Structures and Construction.
Education: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (2005); Master in Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering from University of Coimbra (2008); PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Porto (2011) under the supervision of Professor António Viana da Fonseca on the Geomechanical characterization of an artificially cemented soil in collaboration with Prof. Mathew Coop and Prof. Beatrice Baudet in London.
Main research interests/skills: Static and cyclic behavior of stabilised soils with different materials (cement, binders from alkaline activation of ashes and slags, rubber from end-of-life tires) for different applications (transport infrastructures, liquefaction mitigation, etc...). Laboratory characterization and constitutive modeling of those materials and numerical analysis of the corresponding geotechnical structures.

Main activities: Participation in 7 research projects; co-supervision of 2 concluded PhD theses; supervision of 3 ongoing PhD theses, as well as 9 concluded MSc thesis; co-supervision of 10 concluded MSc thesis; participation in 6 PhD juris as examiner; Associate Editor of Soils and Rocks Journal and of Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering from ASCE; author of 29 ISI papers and 54 conference papers.
