Pedro Costa received the M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 1999. He received the PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from FEUP, in 2011, in Control and Robotics, under the topic “Planning Cooperative tasks and trajectories in Multiple Robots”. Since then, his specialization area focuses on path planning, being recognized as one of the most experienced researchers in the country. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) of FEUP and a Researcher at the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) of the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC). His main interest areas are: path planning, obstacle avoidance, robotics, navigation and mobile manipulators. Over the years, the research on path planning has covered a wide range of domains from single to multi-robot and considering several environments. In the last years, the industry and multi-robot limitations have been a major segment of the investigation. He has been involved in 14 projects and supervised several MSc (24) and PhD dissertations (4).
